Harry Potter, the biggest thing to come out of England since Madonna, returns in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
As we know from the last Harry Potter movie, Voldemort is back. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, few people believe Harry though…even when he’s attacked by dementors and he’s forced to protect himself by using magic while not at school. This gets him expelled…almost. Now the Ministry of Magic is watching him and his friends very closely. Even so, he and his friends decide to hone their magical skills in case of attack. Harry knows there’s an attack coming because he’s having visions of Voldemort attacking his friends. He just hopes his visions aren’t Voldemort trying to take over his mind and make him bad. He just has to have faith and trust his friends and everything will work out okay…hopefully.
It’s Harry Potter . . . with millions of books, billions of dollars, and four previous blockbuster movies, who are we to question its appeal? True fans – and there’s definitely lots of them – will see it no matter what. For the rest, all we can say is that it’s easier to follow than the previous movie, and once you figure out the story, it’s really not bad. Sure, there are plenty of moments when you think they must be making up the rules as they go, and – with several books left in the series – obviously everything doesn’t get resolved. But, Harry Potter is also about the characters, and there are some great characters in this. And, of course, it’s visually spectacular, so – all in all – not bad! |
